How long can an employer keep my name in the voice mail system after I have left the company? I was in sales of high dollar new homes. I left 6 weeks ago and my past employer has not removed my name from the voice mail system. Some customers have called leaving a message not knowing I have left, and expected a return call from me. Some prospects have met my previous employeer at a home show and asked where I was. He did not tell them I no longer worked there. I feel this is deceptive and places my name in a bad light. My feeling is they are afraid they will lose sales once prospects realize I am gone. Also, I do not have a no compete agreement. Am I allowed to call my past customers and prospects to let them know I have left? I feel I owe it to them and they are not being taken care of. Am I allowed to tell them where I work? I did take new employment with a competitor.

Which protocol is used when my VoIP system displays a "new voice mail" icon on my DECT phone? There must be some digital signaling between my VoIP access point (Linksys SPA2002) and my AT&T SL82408 DECT base station going over the station wires. I have the answering machine capability of the base station turned off and let my VoIP provider's voice mail system take messages. When a new message is saved on that system, the handsets display a "new voice mail" icon. I figure it must be a standard protocol since the Linksys and AT&T systems work together. I don't believe it is part of the DECT standard though, as that appears to only cover the over-the-air part of the interface (i.e. between the handsets and base station). Do you use remote voice mail, or an answering machine, or nothing (expect people), for your home phone? It seems that a lot of people tend to default to voice mail systems (AT&T's for California) instead of using an answering machine. Funny, but for me it always seemed like an enormous waste of money to pay for that every month over years. I just replaced the 2nd one I've ever had yesterday with a little AT&T M-1739. The call screening is a nice advantage to me also, when I do that. I'd actually like to get some more answers here. Common Problem with SMS & Voice Mail with Nokia E70? Hey there, I have an unlocked Nokia E70 and have had it for over a year. I use the phone in California. About 3 weeks ago, my incoming text messages stopped working. I was on the AT&T/Cingular network at the time and got sick of working with tech support to clear this issue. They had me restore the phone's original settings, restart the phone, check the message center number, send myself text messages, none of which solved the problem. Also, my voice mail icon was staying on whether or not I had voicemails (it would never go away, even if I checked my voice mails, and exited the system used the asterisk on my phone)... So I switched to T-Mobile, thinking it might help. It somewhat did. My messages used to come in either not at all or 3 days late on AT&T; with T-Mobile, they come in either not at all or 1 day late. An improvement, but something's GOTTA be up! I have the right text messaging number for T-Mobile in there for the messaging number. I can SEND text messages, and if sending doesn't fail once or twice, it'll definitely go through and the other person will receive my text (on T-Mobile AND on other networks). T-Mobile tech-support had me do pretty much the same thing the AT&T support had me do. They even tried texting from their network and not from a phone. Still no dice. I took out my SIM card and put it in another T-Mobile phone and was able to send and receive text messages. Now I'm guessing it's my phone... Tried restoring factory settings again but still nothing. Voice mail icon now is non-existant... I don't know if I have voice mails or not. It stays off no matter what (opposite of the AT&T problem). I googled the "T-Mobile Configurator" and even checked on Nokia's website for the MMS settings to be sent to my phone, but it's obviously no use doing that since I can't receive text messages. On an upside, reception is FAR better on T-Mobile than with AT&T Blue. Any suggestions? Tech-tips, or advice on how I can get this working? Is the pause after dialing and before the outgoing call starts ringing a consistent length of time? I need my computer to call a voice mail system, dial a few option numbers after it picks up, and "play" sound into the greeting message that it is recording. I am trying to figure out if a service such as Yahoo Voice will work for this. Part of this is figuring out if the length of time between saying "dial" and the other side picking up is consistent. Suggestions for an inexpensive business phone system? We currently lease a Nortel Norstar phone system, but would like to buy a system flat out so we can eliminate monthly payments and manage it ourselves (we currently get billed if we call just to ask a question, and we have to have them come in to add/remove mailboxes, etc.). We have 10 employees right now, but have 14 extensions currently open in the office (2 are empty desks, and 2 are common area rooms). We would need a good voice mail system that is remotely accessible, auto-attendant and automatic call distribution, music while on hold would be nice, and the ability to automatically forward calls to other extensions or outside numbers. We do not have VoIP or anything fancy like that -- we pay our phone company for 6 lines (one of which is a fax line). We only have one phone number public, which seems to automatically connect to any of the 5 lines depending on which is open. Can anyone recommend an affordable and easy to manage phone system?
Verizon cell phone acting weird anyone have this problem? I have just recently got a verizon cell phone two months ago. It has been working fine up until the other night. Now I dont have a voice mail system. It either gets transferred to another person or it sounds like a dial up modem and people hang up because they think they have the wrong number. Can the ipod shuffle play while AC charging? I use my shuffle as an audio source for a voice mail system. It works, but needs to be charged every day. I got a USB / AC adapter which charges it just fine, but it won't play when charging. Is there any way to make it play while charging? What is the best small-business phone system and why? I'm looking to replace my current, very old business phone system with a new model. I have tried to research for the systems offering the most features but am having a tough time figuring out which systems, if any, provide the features I need. Specifically, I need a system with auto-attendant that can be configured to ring phones in a specific order based on the callers choices. (ie. for sales, system hunts in order of 1,2,3 but for service, system hunts in order of 3,2,1) In other words, I have personel who are very good at sales but can also do customer service and also have personel who are very good at customer service but can also do sales. I want to route calls to the best people without having to dedicate any individual exclusively to one department. I also want the auto-attendant to have the capability to transfer to outside phone numbers. Lastly, I also need voice-mail capability and night attendant. All the numbers are tied to the main # so if you dial the 800 # it goes to the main #, however if someone else dials the local # it goes directly to the voice mail. How do I get my KRZR to stop saying there is voice mail when there is not? My mom gave me her old KRZR. It had the same issue when she had it - the little icon that says you have a message just sits there, even if you have no voice mails. When you go into the messaging system, it says there are 2 new voice mails, even though when you call to retrieve the voice mails, there are none... If you reply to a voice mail in Cingular, does the reply go to the SIM Card or the telephone number? A SIM Card has an EMEA Number. Imagine a scenario where your Telephone number is A. You call a friend's number and leave a voice mail message. Your friend retrieves your message after 7 days. Meanwhile you change your telephone number (which on a Cingular system does not involve change of a SIM card). As part of the number change you are required only to switch off and switch on the cell phone. Your friend retrieves your voice mail message, looks up envelope information and using the "Call Back" or "Reply" option, calls back. My feeling is that: 1) On a Cingular system, the call your friend makes back to you, gets diverted to the phone at the New / Changed Telephone Number. 2) The call back / reply calls the SIM Card and NOT the Telephone Number. Could someone confirm these theories of mine? The reason I asked this question is because someone who got a voice mail from a member of our family is constantly calling back. Even after TWO changes of telephone numbers, the calls keep coming back to the changed newer numbers. I have NO explanation why this is happening and would welcome any. Hence my theory

Do you hate Voice Mail as much as I do? This has to be the worst invention ever. You can't get any answers and you still have to pay for the call. The person you're calling probably won't ring back and is just using the system to 'fob you off'. What a wind-up!

How can I stop my mother-in-law from answering my phone? My mother-in-law comes to my house during the week to take the dog out and play with her. My yahoo voice is not working! I had to do a system restore cause my Mom deleted all of my cookies and I lost? my sign in seal with yahoo mail and couldnt get it back. So I did a system restore to the day before my cookies were deleted. It worked to get my Yahoo Mail back up , but I still cant get my Yahoo Voice to let me log on. It remebers my Id and pass word but it wont complete the log on process. The little face in my task bar is dead and it just keeps asking me if I want to try again. This has been going on for a week now and I would very much like to have that acess back. I just got the phone in and out and I am sure that I have missed very important calls. I dont know if this is the fault of Yahoo or if it is my computer , but I am guessing that if my Mail account came back up and the Voice did not , when I restored the computer, then it is not the fault of the computer. I have looked and looked in the Help at Yahoo site and there is nothing there about Yahoo Voice Help. So if any one can tell me what the Heck is going on I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
