Why do electronic operators and Voicemail services say "using the keys on your touch tone pad"?
Does anyone actualy use a roterary phone anymore?

- Yes.
- Because they are trying to distract you from the fact that you have to press 2 for english. They're sneaky like that.
- Yes, there are a few people who actually do.. They have these nostalgia phones.
- I think some older people never have changed over. I used to work with a girl who told me you have to pay extra money for touch tone and she wasn't paying it. She was cheap!
- Some programs use voice recognition and it's a little less accurate than the keys on your touch tone pad. As far as what you see as obvious, not everyone would know to use the keys on their touch tone pad if they were not instructed to. Clarity in communications is WAY, WAY important! Siggy
- The new Honda motorcycles have a foil sticker on the exhaust cautioning "Hot Do Not Touch". I guess the world has to be geared to the lowest common denominator ?
- Yes,they do.
- Yeah, my Gran has this old Bakelite thing that's still directly attached to the socket - takes forever to dial a number :-)
- Why is this in gender & women's studies????
