What is the difference between Microsoft Office for Macs and Virtual PC for Macs?

All I want is word and excel for my new macbook...

  1. Virtual PC is an old fashioned way to run Windows on a Mac. It has nothing to do with Microsoft Office. If you want Word and Excel, then buy MS Office for Mac 2008
  2. Office will allow you to run Word and Excell for mac, Virtual PC will not. Before you buy office, have a look at the free http://openoffice.org/ and see if that provides you with what you need. You can save as word/excell documents with it.
