How do I uninstall ROM imbedded software from my PPC?

I have a pocket pc that is preloaded with a bunch of crapware (VZ app zone, Opera Browser, Shozu, Visual Voicemail, VZ Navigator etc) The only thing I might want to keep is Opera, but I have no use and too little storage space to waste on the others. I cannot remove them manually since the "delete" option is grayed out when I open up their executable files in the file explorer even though I've ended all tasks with the task manager. The first thing I actually tried to do is extract the ROM and edit it then flash it back. heck, it worked great on my treo, so why not my new phone? Well, to anyone who cares, that isn't such a great idea anymore. I actually bricked it. I was able to flash back the original ROM and now I'm back where I started.

  1. I don't really know, but i just wanted to say hello, haven't seen you for long, how are you? Hope fine.
  2. Sorry Doc Hammy, but if it is ROM software, (as opposed to RAM stuff), I am afraid you are stuck with it. Read Only Memory software is burnt in. A dealer might be able to blank it out (disable it), or replace it with other burned in software, but I do not think the space can be free-up for you to use. The ROM Stuff does not really affect YOUR storage space, although if you can end the processes, then what CPU speed the machine has reverts to you. The answer for more space for you is another flash, or USB, or RAM memory card, whatever your PPC takes. Anyhow. I missed you when you were gone a while. Welcome back. Pierre
