How can I receive a voicemail message from a call center that is talking to another person?

Just picked up my voicemail messages, and realized I was listening to a female employee in a busy call center -- lots of conversation in background -- and the person she called obviously answered the phone. I could hear her part of the conversation but not his. Would love to know how this could happen. Not a big deal, but it's still interesting. Thanks for your time. Oh - and this was my land line, not a cell phone, with one of the major carriers.

1. Its because someone else in call center called you, other agents were busy taking calls on computer in routine so you were not able to hear other party. The other reason might be that she mistakenly dialed your number from her cell phone and was talking on her head phone with a customer. I have worked in call center settings and it happened to me few times.
