How do I deactivate AT&T (formerly Bellsouth) voicemail on home phone?

My mother doesn't understand how to use all this new technology. Does anyone know how to deactivate AT&T (formerly Bellsouth) voice mail on my home phone? She prefers the old fashion way of an answering machine.
