Voicemail

How can I have multiple (more than 4) voice mail boxes on a basic phone system?

I work at a small, under-funded non-profit organization in Victoria, BC. We use a two line phone system. We now need more than the standard 4 voice mail boxes offered by Telus or Primus. How can we stay with a budget priced phone system and have more than 4 voice mail boxes?

  1. Take a look at IVM, it is a relatively inexpensive piece of software that you can use to direct phone calls and/or use for multiple voicemail boxes, how many depends on the license version you go with. You can use this software with either your regular landline phones but you would need a voice modem or telephony board to connect them to your computer (there are hardware suggestions listed if you decide to go that route). Or you can use it with VoIP phone lines, which can actually save you money especially if you do any long distance calling, so it might be worth looking into moving your phone numbers to VoIP. Here is a link with more information that you can take a look at. And you can always download the software for a free 14-day trial to test it out and make sure you can get things working before you need to make a purchase. http://www.nch.com.au/in/voicemail.html
