Voicemail

Do you use remote voice mail, or an answering machine, or nothing (expect people), for your home phone?

It seems that a lot of people tend to default to voice mail systems (AT&T's for California) instead of using an answering machine. Funny, but for me it always seemed like an enormous waste of money to pay for that every month over years. I just replaced the 2nd one I've ever had yesterday with a little AT&T M-1739. The call screening is a nice advantage to me also, when I do that. I'd actually like to get some more answers here. I'll add that if one lives alone it makes a lot of difference to have something to take messages. I never had one growing up till I was in my late 20's. "except" rather than "expect" above. D.J.

  1. An answering machine with the ringer turned off.
  2. I agree, it is a waste of money to have voice mail. I have always only had an answering machine, even when I worked for a telephone company and my voice mail would have been free. With an answering machine, I have much more control. n
