How do I check my voice mail on my new Blackberry Curve 8330?

When I call my Voice mail, it says.. "welcome to the messaging system, please enter the number you would like to send a message to. If you would like to check you own mail box, press pound." So I press Pound. It says, please enter you mailbox number. After I enter my number, it tells me it is not a valid mailbox number.
