How do I find people by looking up their phone numbers?

Is there a way to find people by looking up their phone numbers on the internet. Besides Whitepages, I already tried that. Yesterday, I got a call, but I didn't look at the number befor answering it. I anserwed, and they hung up. So I wrote down the number from my cell and called them. I said 'Somebody at this number just called me'. And a guy said 'i got the wrong number' or 'you got the wrong number', he wasn't very clear. then he hung up. Then today, I got another call, but it was from a completely differant number. The number looked like it might had been my friend's(i don't know her number by heart, i just keep it in my contacts) so i answered, and they hung up. So i called back (my friend is a freak and tends to hang up, so i figured i would call her back.) this time, nobody answered, but it went to a voicemail. the voice on the voicemail sounded like the same guy from yesterday and he was saying 'this is university...' (i didn't understand the rest, because once again it was unclear) (i also looked at my friend's number to see if she just playing a joke, like she tends to do, and they were differant numbers) finally i looked up both the numbers on Whitepages, and it said the number was 'unpublished'. i told my mom all of this, i gave her the numbers, and she told me not to answer my phone anymore. is there another way i could find out who this fricken creep is? P.S did this ever happen to you? if so, what did you do?

1. There is a pre-paid card. It's called spoof card. They might be using this card to put any Number to Show Up on your Caller Id, not sure if there is a way to find out who the other person's actual number. Any person could even change their voice to male or female. Hope this helps
