Voicemail

Were house phones really that bad? My rant for the day lol?

I could understand teenagers or corporate millionaires wanting to be connected all the time, but as an adult, these cell phones are really getting annoying. Sure they do neat tricks, play music, go on the internet, yada yada, but is it really that great to be available 'all the time,' or at least within a short time of getting the voice mail. Whatever happened to personal time? And if you simply don't feel like talking to people (say on a weekend), they get offended if you don't call back right away. Metro PCS doesn't even give you an option to turn off the voicemail and then they delete messages so you can't keep it full! On top of that, who doesn't have a job nowadays that 'expects' you to be reachable ALL the time. Could you really tell your boss that the phone goes 'off' after work...I mean really? Cell Phones have been around for a while now, but, believe it or not, it's only been less then 10 years that they've been affordable enough for 'everybody' to have one, and for that matter, expected to have one. Don't get me wrong, I do like my cell phone, but just not that much anymore...Heed my warnings..we must reverse this trend! LOL What say you??

  1. I say I agree with some of what you are saying. It is just RUDE to carry on a conversation on a cell phone in so many different circumstances. And seriously, I don't give a damn about being accessible 24/7. If I don't want to look at or be near my phone. I'm not. After hours, I'm on MY time. Everyone, including my boss, knows that calling me is no guarantee I will get it right away, or that I will call back unless asked to. Get a service provider that provides the kind of service you want if the messaging thing is not working they way you want.
  2. I'm with you. I sold cell phones for 15 years before I got one and have almost seen it all when it comes to cell phones. Anyway I still have home service (it never needs charging except for the cordless handset) It is ALWAYS on the wall where I left it Anyone can answer for me (kids wife babysitter etc) from ANY room,or ALL rooms 911 service is required by law to work even in a power outage no "coverage" issues in my basement or through metal siding times are changing and the latest trends, and laws, seem to be AWAY from talking and texting while driving Oprah is pushing for people to promise NOT to text or talk without handsfree My boss doesn't pay my phone bill (or me when I'm not at work) so leave a message like everyone else!
