Calling US toll free numbers from India?
I had to call an US toll free number from India but I was charged regular price. I had dialed 001-800.... but I was charged so was I doing something wrong.

- Well, most 1-800 numbers in America go to customer service departments in India, so, maybe that's why you were charged, because, for you, it was a local call! ;-) Seriously, though, those USA toll-free numbers are only toll-free for callers inside the USA, not for international callers, sorry. Good luck!... ☺
- Toll free numbers are only free from US landline phones. They are not even free from cell phones in USA. Therefore you were charged. See if there is an international Toll Free number, I doubt that though. However, you can make free calls to anyone in US using Google Voice if you can manage to get an account. Also you can call from your PC using sipgate connected with GV account.
- You will definitely get charged if you called a toll free service in the US from India unless you are using Skype since it has the ability to FREELY call toll free phone numbers in selected countries like US, Canada, UK, France, Poland, etc.
