Can I call a AT&T cell phone & have my message go directly to voicemail?

I want to call somebody with an AT&T cell phone, but I don't want their phone to ring. I want to receive their voicemail instead of hearing there phone ring. Is there a way to do this? (what code can I enter from my phone to 'force' it to voicemail?)

1. No that is not possible.
2. if you're on at&t and in the same area code, you might be able to do this by calling your own voicemail then pressing 2 to send a message. otherwise you can use a service like sendabuz (888-5-SENDABUZ) to send a message to any cell phone voicemail without it ringing.
