Is there a number that I can call for Verizon customers to leave just a voicemail?

I want to call a Verizon number just to leave a voicemail - I don't want to talk to the person directly. I want to go straight to the voicemail. Is there a number that I can dial and then enter the mailbox number of the person that I want to leave the voicemail for? If anybody knows, it would be a great help. (Oh yeah, the Verizon number I want to leave the voicemail for is from Albany, NY {518}.)
