Verizon Wireless voicemail set up?

I've had my chocolate for about half a year and I can't get my voicemail set up. Whenever I dial *86 it just beeps like it is busy. Am I doing something wrong? If none of your answers work I will just go to the Verizon store...

1. ur susposed to set up your voice mail with in a certinn amount of time, 39 days or if you go past that time, they will delate the voice mail part on the phone. call em and have them set it up again
2. Typically if you press and hold 1 it automatically dials your voicemail. Just punch in your code and it will give you the options to change thing. If 1 is not programmed you can dial your own number. When your greeting comes up press # and it should ask you for your code. Then it will give you the options to change things.
