Can I Link My Phone to my Computer?

I have a Avaya 6424D+ with a AWH55+ Wireless Headset and an IBM ThinkPad lenovo Z61t. I would love to be able to find the software and hardware to link the two so that it will pop up on my screen when i have incoming call and have voicemail. My phone is out of my line of sight and I often have my headphones on. Any suggestions?

  1. You probably can't do this with the built in modem in the thinkpad. You need a device called a voice modem, which combines the features of a modem with telephony services (voice mail, PC phone dialing, etc). You might be able to find a PC card version of a voice modem that will fit into the PCMCIA slot of your laptop. The modem will come with or refer you to appropriate software for what you want to do.
  2. the phone can not be linked to your voice modem because it is a system phone... you may be able to get software to monitor your phone system when there is an incomming call, and what line is connected to it.. the office of the company that i work for has call monitor software connected from the phone system to the network, and everyone in the office can view on there screen how many calls are on hold, and many other features..
  3. There is a company called Ring Central you can goggle it.It will do this and also give you an 800 number it used to come free with IBM computers now it costs about $15 a month. There are a lot of extras that come with the cost check it out
