Voicemail

If I buy a iphone 1st gen off ebay locked to at&t will i have to buy the stupid data plan?

And if not, how will the iphone respond when i go into safari using EDGE or open virtual voicemail? will it do the expensice 1 cent/kb thing or will it say no data plan?

2. The new iPhone will not even function properly without a data plan. Don't want a data plan? Don't get a PDA phone.

4. If the phone is locked, then the only thing that you will be able to use it for is emergency calls. NOTHING else. thats how my iphone was when i got it. I know it is expensive with at&t but you need to get a data plan. that way you can get onto itunes and activate your phone. HOPE THIS HELPS!

6. you have choose a data plan when you activate it. It will not activate unless you choose one. Before you activate all you can do is make a emergency call.
