Voicemail

When a cell phone rings once and goes to voicemail, does that mean no service or rejecting call?

I tried calling my girlfriend and it rang once and went to voicemail. My friend told me that means no service. Does it mean she is rejecting my calls? She wouldn't have her phone off because she was coming home. She has Verizon, if that provides you with anymore information.

  1. or her phone is off.
  2. It can be both but from my past experience... Your calls are getting rejected....
  3. No service. Or, she is hitting the ignore button right away.
  4. what carrier does she have? I know if she has nextel, then it is because she lost service.
  5. It does that when the phone is shut off. If there was no service a message would alert you that the number is disconnected.
  6. It could mean::: 1. she has no service 2. her phone is off 3. she rejected your call But it is most likely 1 or 2.
  7. rejection. When no service, goes straight to voicemail.
  8. It could also mean that she has the phone turned off. I have never understood why some people think I need to answer my phone if I am busy. They aren't paying the bill I am it is for my use not thiers. If it is that important leave a message.
  9. More than likely her phone is turned off and if it is it will ring once and then go to the voicemail.
  10. If the cell phone is turned off (powering the phone off with the off button), then the voice mail will answer on first ring. I have Boost Mobile. When a call rings, I can hit a "No" button to make it go to voice mail as soon as I hit the button (could be first ring, could be 4th ring, just depends on how fast I hit the button). Otherwise, the voice mail usually answer on 5th ring. Oh yes, and it they have ran out of minutes (No Service), then on Boost at least, you don't get voice mail, it simply answer, the person you are trying to reach is unavailable, please try your call again later".... Probably different messages with different cell phone companies.
  11. I think is means either there phone is off or there is no service where they are.
  12. I believe so.
  13. Depends on the service provider, but it generally means a rejected call. When the person fails to answer, generally it will go to voicemail after 4-5 rings. If the cell phone is off, or the person is out of coverage, it will go directly to voicemail. Also, if the person attempts to call you at the exact same time you attempt to call them, it will go directly to voicemail. Often times as well, if the person is roaming, or goes out of coverage briefly, the first ring will be longer than the other rings.
  14. No, it isn't a rejected call. I had the same thing happen with a relative. It just means that they have to put more credit in their phone. Try again a bit later and you will see.
