Any ideas besides thanks for calling leave a message?

act like you pick up the phone and talk, be quiet for a second and let the beep sound.
You could say "Hello... (then have a bit of a pause)... Oh hey, what's up... (a bit more of a pause) ... I can't come to the phone right now, but please leave a message" etc etc.
Well it really depends on what kind of relationship you have with the person.. do you guys have inside Jokes... it all depends...Good Luck!
mine is like: "Hello, (pause) Hello, can you speak up? Just kidding, im not here right now... nice talking to you!" It gets people every time!

well i had a friend who i call ed and he answered the phone as if he were there saying "hello" "hello" then he said "oh hey hang on a minute and then all of a sudden i heard heard him in hte background yelling "oh my god fire fire fire oh s hit fire!!" then he says "hey sorry you missed me leave a message
