How do i set up voice mail on Cingular?

I tried to set if up but then it tells me to enter the voice mailbox number as specified by the system manager. I tried using the 10 digit, cell phone number, the last four digits, and 1234. Why isnt this working? The guy at the store said I'd be all set.

1. type in ur own # and press stuff till it says personal options, then u got it
2. the voicemail pilot number in your phone is wrong. the number you need to enter is a special number just for voicemail. call customer service from a seperate phone and ask them for your voicemail pilot number and also to reset your voicemail and that will fix it.
