Voicemail

If you reply to a voice mail in Cingular, does the reply go to the SIM Card or the telephone number?

A SIM Card has an EMEA Number. Imagine a scenario where your Telephone number is A. You call a friend's number and leave a voice mail message. Your friend retrieves your message after 7 days. Meanwhile you change your telephone number (which on a Cingular system does not involve change of a SIM card). As part of the number change you are required only to switch off and switch on the cell phone. Your friend retrieves your voice mail message, looks up envelope information and using the "Call Back" or "Reply" option, calls back. My feeling is that: 1) On a Cingular system, the call your friend makes back to you, gets diverted to the phone at the New / Changed Telephone Number. 2) The call back / reply calls the SIM Card and NOT the Telephone Number. Could someone confirm these theories of mine? The reason I asked this question is because someone who got a voice mail from a member of our family is constantly calling back. Even after TWO changes of telephone numbers, the calls keep coming back to the changed newer numbers. I have NO explanation why this is happening and would welcome any. Hence my theory
