Can I get a Oklahoma number without living there or without an actual phone?

I live in California not Oklahoma but I am from Oklahoma and have a lot of friends/family there. I don't want another phone (already have a land line and cell, both CA area codes) but would like an Oklahoma number so my friends/family don't have to call long distance. I know it probably sounds absurd but I want the number (without the phone, to expensive) so I can set up a voicemail for it and also maybe send text messages via the internet. Is this possible? Does anyone know? I'm looking for a free service similar to PrivatePhone by NetZero. NetZero no longer offers this service, are there any like it out there?

  1. Ok. I hope im understanding what you want to do......I dont think you can do that. But...MOst celphone plans offer free mobile to mobile now. That would be your best bet, and you could talk for free. Most people have cel phones now, so maybe its an option for you. I have cingular and it is free mobile to mobile as long as they are cingular too. I think sprint or verizon is offering something like that too. But even if, you dont have to pay extra for long distance it just uses your minutes, and if you dont use them all one month, they will roll over the next month.
