what is virtual Office? advantages and disadvantages of virtual office?

Public Comments

  1. Generally speaking, a virtual office is an address that doesn't really exist but all mail, parcel or packages get forwarded to a predetermined address, usually your home. Same goes with telephone, its a number that doesn't really exist but when the number is called, the number is forwarded to another number which you specify. Advantages: You can save a lot of money instead of setting up an office, hiring manpower etc. Disadvantages: No walk-in customers. no conference rooms.
  2. It's kind of like a PO box, but for an office.
  3. Actually, most "virtual offices" are more than just a mail drop location / mailing store. It can often be just that, but most offer more services. Many offer the ability to receive faxes, hold meetings in a community conference room, teleconference, answering service, and in some cases, even a private, real office you can rent. For the longest time, I had a friend who used a virtual office that offered all the amenities of a full office -- a receptionist, voicemail, fax / copy service, a cubicle, and use of the common conference room. It cost him about $800 a month but it was worth it; he shared the office with about 40 graphic designers who were constantly sending him work, so he easily made that much and more just by virtue of being there.
