How much do US free phone (toll-free) numbers cost to call from the UK?

1. oh really good... i have an idiot at an ebay shop, who is lying thru his teeth, and all i get is phone me, its toll free... and now i will find out... great question
2. I use a virtual 800 toll-free number and I pay 3.99 a month....!! but you cant call direct 800 number from the UK....! but Vonage is free....and many other VoIP provider have totally free calls between the US and UK....
3. Sadly, it won't be free! It will normally cost the same as any standard international phone call to the USA. That's about 20-25p/min using a BT landline but, of course, you can get much cheaper rates than that from other companies. (US toll-free numbers can definitely be dialled from the UK - I've just tried it now! I even got an automated lady telling me to "please note that calls are not free from outside the USA".)
